Nassim Taleb makes the rounds again

Quote from iloveoptions:

YOU BET. I bet you my fat tail system can beat his hands down. We'll use collective2 to verify. How's that???

I already had one option ET trader bet me and lost. Would you like to know who that is???

Quote from Maverick74:

According to Business Week, he made a seven figure income last year. Now, I know that is not up to par with your avg ETer who makes well into eight and nine figures, still not bad.

ROFL! thats a hilarious observation.

Quote from hans37:

What I read of his last book disappointed me. I was all mentally prepared to purchase it ,but I was in one of those bookstores stores that actually have chairs for reading, Guess you can say I read too much , decided to get a pizza instead.

I agree completely. I was expecting a book with lots of squiggly lines and moving averages and he had none of that. No pictures or charts! What kind of a book is that? Doesn't he know what an oscillator is? LOL.

Nassim Taleb appears to be hitting the circuit again, perhaps in front of his new book release. There are two articles about him this month. One in the new issue of Trader Monthly and another in this month's issue of Active Trader.

Here is a link to part of the Trader Monthly article.

"He has also written two books: Dynamic Hedging (John Wiley & Sons, 1997) and Fooled by Randomness (Textere, 2001). Taleb is perhaps best known for Fooled by Randomness, which explains why we’re genetically disposed to misjudging probability."

Just curious, which recent book by him?

Yep, as I expected. A one time event elevates the guy to celebrity status. However, it's consistency that matters. Thanks for the link cnms2.

I bought the Dynamic Hedging book but just have not had time to crack it. After getting Cottle's new book I might not need it but will still browse it if i can lol.

The guy has run two of the largest institutional derivatives desks in the world. Which desk did you say you traded on?
