If you use candlesticks, you'll see many bullish candlesticks forming on the Nasdaq while stocks are heading down. Many people blame market makers for knowing candlesticks and creating such signals. With NYSE, there is only one specialist.
I think the NYSE listed stock market place is trending towards more dis-integration than Nasdaq right now. If arca had better algorithms and more unix servers I would bet that in the long run the nyse would have to go ecn like also. Unfortunately for ARCA their brass does not know their routing ass from their elbow. And only a bunch of idiots would have chosen arcas infrastructure over redi's unix servers. I heard politics was involved in the choices and they have made some bad ones. However in the long run I think ecn's will win out over the nyse unless grasso can grease the SEC into making more wrong decisions.

Just think about this : it's not the first time the NYSE is expected to die. It's stronger than ever.
I am a very happy NYSE trader. There are other markets, it's not a market that makes you a trader or not. or make money or not. If you think that, you are probably in trouble and you don't know it yet.
Who cares Nasdaq vs NYSE? Trade where you think you have an edge. Think futures too, and not only of stocks and indices.
These threads on ET are so often bipolar : Nasdaq/Nyse, scalper/swing, stocks/futures, Bull Market / End of the world. Reality is never that dichotomic.

i trade both (nyse and nasdaq) makes no difference to me. don't need level two and could care less about it, but then again who cares what i think!
i would like to know though who here has made the jump from stocks to futures? what is your experience?

My read is over a period of time they alternate in better trend or tradable moves.
