Thanks for the slap in the face CDcaveman, i've been procrastinating on R/Matlab for a while but i think it's time to step it up

yeah..divergence..today was s good example IWM vs QQQ. but this particular example is imo based on simple beta. dunno what you looking at,but good luck with your research

Coursera provides a free class... there is tons of backing to the language. Its a great tool... I'm in the same place as you.. just baby steps ahead of you...:)

So I'm the new R evangelist? Ha... I got hooked up r-finance IrC chat .. subscribed to some R email stuff and just play with stuff ... if you need to manipulate a big data set.. something that would freeze excel you can do in secs... if you don't wanna be bound by publicly available methods to research and you want serious power go R. Ha. How's that for a speech.. I've plotted a vol smile and surface... and just fooled around...
