Maybe on large scales too.
I parked my car in the garage last night and shut the garage door. This morning when I got up my car was outside the garage and the door was still shut. This is a fairly low probability event and yet it happened. 
Obviously quantum mechanical tunneling was involved. (Watch for my up-coming Youtube video.)
What has me baffled is why doesn't this happen more often, I mean considering that both my car and my garage walls are almost entirely empty space. Very puzzling, indeed.

Go on, say the words. Evolution. Natural selection. Physical laws.
They seem to stay away from what speculation? They are scientists, doing chemistry, working on an extremely advanced chemical pathway on non-life to life that correspond with the the physical laws of nature.
They are obviously staying away from speculating on some non-chemical unscientific pathway based on something that isn't anything to do with science.

A review on a great experiment (quantum eraser), but by it, one must assume the photon has taken a definitive or classical property before it's measured and is in effect, ordered to behave as a wave again.
Double slit presents itself as a thought experiment as it invites you consider any observation of a particle will determine that particle's path after the fact.
However in consolation, there is always Quantum Mechanics to perfectly and precisely assign all probability to it.
