Biden Unveils Cool Teen Migrant Detainment Center Where Youths Can Hang Out And Never Leave

CARRIZO SPRINGS, TX—In an effort to provide vulnerable youths with a structured, supervised environment, President Joe Biden unveiled a hip teen migrant detainment center Tuesday where kids could hang out and never leave. “We think migrant teenagers are going to love getting a chance to kick back and chillax in this fenced-off compound from which they cannot escape,” said Biden, touting the facility’s air hockey table, pinball machine, and miles of unscalable barbed wire that would allow teenagers to comingle with other undocumented aliens to their hearts’ content. “We’ve got snacks and sodas, cool tunes on the radio 24/7, really everything a kid who’s been torn apart from his family could want! And, they’ll have plenty of time to try and beat their high score onthe Ms. Pacman or Tetris arcade cabinets while they’re waiting to be deported to their home country. Rock on, kiddos!” At press time, Biden supporters across the country were organizing a fundraising campaign to help provide the center with a new trophy case.

Kids were never being "put in cages". Christ, you make it sound like they were picked up like stray dogs and put in crates.
 
So, as usual let me just clean up this mess:

Way back in 2014 there was a surge at the border and some illegal/undocumented types were being detained in the outdoors due to lack of space. Obama sent his team down there and they built cages (yes, actual cages like you would imagine - chain link fencing, metal poles, chain link metal door opening. Imagine a cheap fence type of thing indoors. A cage.)

Now this was when the US was not in the business of separating children from adults that cross the border. The cages were used to house adult males and were never meant to be permanent. Sort of a transitory relief thing.

Fast forward to Trump. The guy is all about deterring illegal immigration but he’s dumb. So he takes the heavy handed approach and starts separating children from parents because it’s probably the worst thing imaginable for both the parent and the child.

Ok, deterrence, I don’t agree with that but that’s the philosophy at the time. So Trump ends up turning family units into individual units. What’s the problemo with that you need more housing units. So there’s big bad trump doing his deterrent thing and now he’s got thousands of kids so he (his Administration but you can’t delegate responsibility so it’s him really) using the temporary transitory caged housing to house the separated children indefinitely. And that’s the truth of the matter.

And just because context matters, you can put someone behind a chain link fence - and its not a cage like you do with a stray animal.
