Dear Old Acquaintances and Friends,
In the last two years you may have read the occasional unflattering article about me. Old acquaintances sometimes call to sputter, âI read these stories and see that you are not the guy I once knew!â Some direct their anger at me, but some by these articles measure the corruption I am fighting. Thus this battle has been as fine a shibboleth as a man could seek in life.
My take on it is this: much reality is socially constructed, the tools of that construction have been hijacked by Wall Street criminals to obfuscate their thieving against America, the situation persists due to the failure of countless social institutions they have usurped, and for my efforts to expose them I can expect no reward beyond their pillory. In fact, I enjoy it: if I had my way, every Establishment publication would bet every last ounce of credibility it possesses against my own. I celebrate their shoving their chips into the center of the pot, enjoying as I do what Twain described as âall the confidence of a Methodist minister with four aces.â
But because many do contact me to express to me their curiosity and bewilderment, I am (no doubt self-indulgently) sending four links. Feel no pressure to spend a moment on them. I send them for those suspicious about what is on the tip of their newspaper spoons.
1) TheRegister, essentially a British online Wired Magazine, recently published âWikipedia Black Helicopters Circle Utahâs Traverse Mountainâ (
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/12/06/wikipedia_and_overstock/ ), which describes how, while 2 million Wikipedia articles are governed by one set of collaborative rules, the ones concerning me and my efforts are governed by a unique set of rules. How odd. (Incidentally, this is occurring because Wikipediaâs elites and founder are themselves involved in the cover-up, and yes, I know that sounds implausible, but read the story before deciding). If my life has become a rabbit hole, this story is the peek into it.
2) The crime that is being covered-up was partially exposed in a Bloomberg Special Report, âPhantom Shares.â Unlike anything they had previously produced, it was the most watched show in Bloombergâs history, and was nominated for an Emmy for long-form investigative journalism (click
www.overstock.com/naked-short-selling.html then select the top link, âPhantom Sharesâ).
3) A year ago I was invited to speak to a large Wall Street hedge fund conference, but the hedge fund community threatened a boycott if I were allowed to speak. This year a larger conference asked me to speak, claiming that at least some of the community had swung to my side. This October I addressed 800 hedge fund managers and explained a pattern involving hedge funds, Milberg Weiss, and a handful of bent financial journalist and analysts:

4) On November 29 an intelligent NPR journalist interviewed me about life, the universe and everything. Telling the public my side of the story was the best birthday present, and my best interview, in ages:

If nothing else, I do hope these links will convey enough of a sense of the brawl I am in, that they may lead you to forgive how poor and inattentive a correspondent I have been in recent years.
In all cases, I hope this finds you well, and I remain,
Your humble servant,
Patrick
