Exclusive-NAACP asks Biden to halt weapons to Israel as he seeks to shore up Black voter support

(Reuters) - The NAACP urged President Joe Biden on Thursday to "indefinitely" halt all weapons deliveries to Israel and pressure the U.S. ally to end its war in the Gaza Strip, sending a reminder that his support for Israel could hurt him among Black voters in November's election.

The NAACP's call was a rare instance of the influential civil rights organization taking a position on U.S. foreign policy towards a country without a significant Black population. It appeared likely to deepen the Democratic president's election-year challenges as he tries to back a key ally abroad and temper unrest among his supporters at home.

Reason won't work when the AIPAC lobby is so strong. Pretty ironic how US is funding both Ukraine and Israel, when Israel is behaving just like Russia (small faction attacks, they carpet bomb the whole region). Realpolitik in action.

Oh, so did Ukraine invade Russia and kill & kidnap hundreds of Russian citizens. If Ukraine had done something like this then Russia would be expected to retaliate with military force until the hostages were released and those responsible were held accountable. But this is not the situation in Ukraine with Russia -- where Putin unilaterally launched military aggression to seize the country because he wants to effectively re-unite the old Soviet Union.

The situations in Ukraine and Israel are very different; there is no parallel or similarities.
 
AIPAC lobby is strong but Democrats cant win without high black voter turnout and 85% + of the Black vote.With Blacks, Progressives,and Arabs being against Israel the Democrat Party is going to have to make a choice,which is a good thing imo as Israel being a partisan issue is better than both parties being slaves to them.Im looking forward to Biden losing Michigan in November due to Israel.
