Get Prophet.net and use the ProphetScan feature to pull up the gappers. You can use the gap filters or just do price and volume scan and scroll through the mini charts set at 2day, until you see the gap stocks.

thankx reid ..

realtick actually does some nice scans .. its really all i need and all i have ever used ..

:)

Ok. But Prophet has the multiple mini chart feature that displays your scan results. With that you can scroll through 1000 charts as fast as your eye can take it. They are the only website I know that has that. If I'm wrong let me know. Medved QuoteTracker also has scrolling mini charts but without price, volume, time, etc.

thanx man .. i will definitely look into it :)

thanks for the reply, and it sounds like you have a filtering basis (personal calculations or realtick filter) for gap amounts in cents or percentage. sounds like a good idea for NAZ issues, as you can have a solid reward relative to risk.

YHOO on the open today, was actually pretty simple fade watching his tape. i only did 500 shs, but a start to opening gaps in NAZ. i waited till the second 3 min bar to confirm for entry.

i play the opening gaps in NYSE, and have not looked into NAZ issues on the open for fading - but like i said you sparked my interest. thanks!

i look forward to reviewing your posted trades in the future.

the news service came to mind because counter trades at extremes can happen on news issues, whereby your risk to return can be good.

And unless you are running a filtering program, news would focus the trader to the issue for a setup during the mid-day - hence that is why i was thinking news service.

so, i was simply probing for insights for how he filters for potential mid-day trades like the AAPL chart that was posted. (filter and/or news).

what were your thoughts?

I'm new here, but nice thread, I definetly picked some things up.

Do anyof you use systems to trade these setups?

not really a system ..but more of a trading model based on pattern recognition ..

:)

Hi Sobemark.

Your thread is a breath of fresh air. Thank you.
Could you please address your stop strategy on these types of trades.

i use mental stops based on my own risk tolerance (which is high)

normally since i am trading against the trend, i do not expect my first entry to be perfect, so i usually build my positions over several entries ..

yesterday w/ JOBS i tried for the gap fade...didn't work.. so i dumped it quick because it didn't "feel right" ..obviously it was the right move ..

thanks for the comments :)
