ummm...

reminds me of that old newlywed game show moment on live TV:

"Where was the strangest place you ever made love?"

"uh, that would have to be up the ____, bob."

Homie don't play that, sorry.

Hello all,

It is my first post :)

I want your thoughts on this:
Do you feel that because your parents may have supported you when you were younger, that you "owe" it to them to support them now?

(Pay the bills they run up etc, just because they did it for you when you were younger and unable to work)

Thanks.

Your parents performed a lot of work in bringing you up and made a lot of sacrafices. Bringing up a kid is a second job and sometimes it is not that much of a pleasure.

You should help out your parents. Now to what extent is arguable and negotiable. Paying for a few cable or electrical bills seems sensible.

I am doing whatever I can right now to be self sufficient in the future. 401k, Roth IRA, DRIP plans and of course there is pension/social security. The pension/social security may not be there in the future however. It is with great hope that I will not be asking for handouts from my immediate family. However, there may come a time when asking for a handout is all together possible.

You should work with your family on these issues. Ultimately, you might pay for some of the bills which is not unreasonable.
