My option trades

Looks like I'll be safe for a while.

Off to a quick workout. It's kinda fun being in school and being able to trade and have all these gangsta traders hanging around here and learn quite a few.

Hopefully come interview time I'll be able to use some stuff I've learnt from here.

New Mechanical Trading System trade, Buy 1 is filled.
Here's the Output:
Buy 1: SPY APR 140 Calls at 2 .15 / Sell at 2.69, but if it tanks before profiting then
Buy 2: SPY APR 140 Calls at 1.60 / Sell all at 2.30
Stop: 1.45
R/R: 1/1

03-22-12
Buy 2 is filled at 1.65 (SPY120421C00140000)
Our trade management rules state:
If Buy No. 1 is in draw down and Buy No. 2 isn't filled by the close of Day 2, add +.05 to Buy 2 for the remainder of hold time.
Sell Limits and Stops remain the same.

(Don: Underlying was in a 2 minute range of 138.79-138.94)

No way to know for sure whether it closes above or below strike prices at times. They wait for Standad and Poors to determine the closing price, regardless of what we see on our quote window. Has been a bit disconcerting several times.

I see. And if you are short and even delta hedged, it doesn't offer solace. Yeah. That's annoying.

No offense intended, but fill 2, while being possible, occurred two hours ago and a few ticks off the low of the day. You'll need to be more prompt with posting these as trade #2 cannot be distinguished from BS hindsight.

Sorry about that and I agree with you. Busy household of 7 with lots of demands on my time. I will try and fire it off quicker next time.
Options at about 1.80, could still go either way at this point.

I am confused. Your last post (140 calls) has a 3/20 date... yet this 141 call trade would supersede and resulted in a stop-loss fill at 1.20. Huh?

atticus,

The 3/21/12 post with the put trade (the one you had the web link
for) did not fill.
However there is still an open call trade position from the 3/20/12 post on page 150. (5 day hold on calls, or limit sell or stop, "whichever comes first.")

No, my apologies. You posted this on 3/20. I assumed it had not been posted until today.

Well I took my break and just got back on the computer with an hour to go before the close.

I tried to re-enter that calendar in PCLN again. This time I clicked on the sell of the March end of month weekly, it seemed to give me correctly a sell in March and a buy in April. I changed it to CALLS. Still the TOS machine REJECTED it. So I am at a loss now. Going to have to give up for another day.

Don
In answer to your query. I show two weeklies in the TOS option chain. One expiring March tomorrow Friday and one expiring in 8 days from now.

For some reason I am not able to enter the calendar spread?

I´m about done with trying to do that today. Will maybe get together with TOS HELP tomorrow.

All I got into so far is QQQ today. The stocks never filled.

Since I don't feel options are made for active trading, I don't bother with weeklies. You're welcome to of course, evidently many do. Just more money for the exchanges, more products. Capitalism at it's best I guess.
