Well, in the past, the SPX has been a market that A) required far more margin to trade since it has double the value of the OEX B) was mainly an institutional market where they would do some larger hedges...It has alot of Open Interest, but smaller volume at different strikes than the OEX C) Just never had the popularity that the OEX has enjoyed over the years...
