warren buffet set up a machine where he doesn’t have to worry about drawdowns, he doesn’t have to worry about recycling risk, and he can’t have capital redemptions.

That’s the reason he’s the wealthiest stock picker in the world even though there are many others who have better track records.

I didn't quit my job in 1999 till I had 3 million in savings, house paid off, 10 million in 401k and positive cash flow of house rentals to pay my monthly bills. And even then, I went into tail spin of losses till stressed of not going to work went away.

You also have to include medical insurance, food, repairs of house, car, etc. I highly recommend having part time job for afternoon for several months to show yourself what you can achieve.

YEP! Why would you trade one job for another that is unproven and can have NEGATIVE cash flow.

You take on trading as a "job" when you "retire" from the W-2 income. The exception is you are already in the industry and want to do it independently, and even then.

Really these days, in the USA, 5 mil, deployed, after taxes is the minimum to "retire" for anyone under 65.

"retire" is in quotes because those who make it this far, usually never stop "hustling and working it".

Title really should be "my job is supporting me". BTW: OP is silent. Dead horse thread. But in about a month another person will post the same thing. A bunch of people will talk about how much they can make . *fantasy alert*, etc.

You are a little off on your belief of exponential growth as it relates to compounding..

You get exponential growth due to the effect of compounding...Its not one vs the other..

It depends how much money you have in retirement and how much your wife makes? :) a lot of people are well-off and if your job kills your soul...take your chances. Ramsey has a collection of 55 y.o who are worth over a mill. Without knowing your personal details it is all a opinion fest, shit show. The young turk who claims you can make a $500-1000 a day CONSISTENTLY is high in my opinion or he is selling some fucking youtube course or some other bull shit.

Just that exponential growth is beyond ordinary simple compounding.
