My friend is investing on BTC, Idk..

is it possible that USDT, the tether, is issued from thin air to pump the btc price?

No.

But it makes a great scare story which has been going on for 4 long years now.

Any day now BTC will implode because of Tether!

I'm surprised the Tether FUD gang have any credibility left but then we humans always fall for 'the world is going to end tomorrow' stories. It's one of our big weaknesses because we love to feel scared if only temporarily.

PS. Don't you think the big institutions who have and are about to allocate hundreds of millions have done their superior due diligence into Tether?

Yep the frenzy is back on...the magical unicorn coin that only goes up, wait till the music stops and it loses more than half its value in a few months. The drop will look just as epic as the rise, remember that!!!!!!

yeah, sudden unpredictable losses! I had that impression :O

Overrated, its more than Overrated, it's a magical unicorn coin ....meaning no intrinsic value what so ever but let the big bitcoin bulls make their money, eventually the music will stop like it always does and this magical coin tens of thousands. This is just the big whales pushing up the price. They control the prices.

yeah! U said the most important words: intrinsic value, it has no value in the long term because it does not contribute anything at all, it's associated with high risk, high price volatility, and mainly, corruption. What is the message? Not a sustainable investment, perfect for short-term minded people, but if you're trying to be a serious investor... BTC is nothing but an illusion :p

I was stuck on crypto to crypto exchange and instead of buying tether because of the fud I bought other alt coins to get out of nxt. Went from 50 times gains to 3 times gains. I am making a comeback now after getting out of the alt coins into bitcoin and ethereum!

Not even a few months. It lost 60-70% in under one month last March. Same story in Dec 2018 and of course far worse in the last major bubble of 2017. We are in a highly speculative environment. Many stocks gained more than Bitcoin last year and ETH did too. No one knows how high it can go before the bubble pops. At the height of the tulip bubble, some tulips were trading for as much as houses. And that was without negative interest rates. If you buy it though, do so in an IRA or 401k as the taxes on it in the US are high.

Great perspective! A few years ago I read that the Tulipmania stopped because the Dutch Government made an intervention, the difference I find with BTC, is that the global organizations (like EU, FMI) are trying to regulate them and incorporate them into the system... But I guess that this is just to protect people from scammers.

I don't know Rick, for me is nothing but a bubble too, I don't believe their numbers are real, Their CEO is a fucking ghost, and I don't trust people who hide.. and I don't want to invest in a company related to crime, and BS. Money movements have their own Karma

BTC is still only 34k though too. At the height of the tulip bubble they were worth the price of a mansion. Relative valuation wise we aren't even close to that.

I am not sure it is even correct to call BTC a bubble at this point. You don't get rebounds from crashes like this in a bubble.

To me it is just an insanely volatile new asset class with really shady infrastructure that I want no part of.

I love the massive amounts of cheap data though. If anyone is just starting out I have no idea why you wouldn't start in crypto for trading.
