My first post on ET in 5 years. Has the signal-to-noise ratio improved here? Thoughts?

20 years. Was an equity derivatives bank trader for 11, left to do something new and traded on the side for the last 9. All equity volatility.

I haven’t posted in the trading forums because there hasn’t been anything interesting there to talk about.

Where are you located? I'm in NYC, left "Wall St" about a dozen years ago.

I'm somewhere below the manhole cover on the ladder to the Top dogs but also I'm a happy enough little vegemite, wife hasn't sent me to the poorhouse yet with all her spending, even though she's trying hard enough .

Indeed. You have been very low key and never bragged, we wouldn't know from your posts.

If I have spent 20 years in the derivative business, I won't find anything interesting there to talk about either.

Hi there,
It's been 5 years since I last signed into EliteTrader. Back then, spammy replies, amateurism, and weak content moderation were a real problem for me. In catching up on reading in this particular channel it seems things might have changed for the better. Is there more of a real-money, non-retail trader presence here now?

I just got back after about 6 years. Still the same guys here who think random lines on a chart is all you need to make money... very disappointing.

I actually think it's a bit better, or maybe I'm just participating in a smarter way. I've had a few substantive chats recently, where people actually learned something and there were few spammers. Is this the best site for quants or even institutional traders? No, but there's nothing wrong with stopping by every once in awhile.

There were some fun old threads. I think it was Tampa who posted a limerick once that I can't remember but I do remember it made me howl.
