My Experience using Bitcoin for a Real Purchase

precisely why this Crypto Crap is NOT going to get widely accepted. A hedge fund manager said it best when he said last month "it is a solution looking for a problem" We have no need for it, at least not a universal need. I will say it again,,, it is just a hyped up mania and will crash hard.
 
The last 3 or 4 posts are basically saying the same thing, bitcoin as a currency is not better than a CC or cash. I'm not going to debate that, as I don't think it's worth arguing over and over. Bottom line is that bitcoin is a currency, and for some use cases, it's the only form of payment accepted.

Let me ask you this, what's your point? You've been putting bitcoin down for months and saying it's going to crash to worthless valuation and it just keeps going. This site is for traders. This forum is titled "Cryptocurrencies". You trade crypto or you don't. Long or short. The market doesn't care about your opinion. Me? I'm invested in cryptocurrencies. August may be interesting, but no risk, no reward. Don't put any money you can't afford to lose.

@zdreg not to derail but..knocking American education ?....I think the record number of 17-20 yr old non-US citizen attempting to enter US universities may speak differently.

Also, I think the OP may have been trying to make a point on BC, not arithmetic.

as to your point about foreigners entering american universities, it has nothing to do with the fact is that the educational achievement of high school graduates in the US are middling to low in international comparisons. the fact is that many high school graduates are functional illiterates.

Oh boy, what a bad argument. Just because American athletes are top notch that doesn't mean that Americans as a whole aren't the fattest nation. He was making a misdirected comment on the average Americans what actually can be backed by data. Anyhow, completely off topic, I just hate when somebody argues this bad...

Actually there is a need, that is why cryptos haven't died. At least 2 needs from the top of my head:

1. (almost) untrackable purchases.
2. (almost) untrackable capital movement.

In certain countries capital control is very strong by the government and cryptos help people to move money around between countries and such. People also like to buy certain things online that they can not be connected with, and cryptos also help with that. That most of the time those activities are illegal is kind of beside the point, but explains why people have these needs.

@zdreg I can see your why your focal point is the high school graduate level, you obviously did not continue your education beyond it ! maybe a reading comp course will help you identify OP's underlying points in the future.

Whole Foods is asstastically expensive. Don't shop there. You'd get more bang for your bit at a local grocer.
