My DAYTRADER story

Quote from Fireplace:

From his story, it sure sounds like he was lousy....just didn't realize it soon enough. A 'very good' trader doesn't find himself blowing up 6 months of profits (and then some) in one bad month again and again, they just don't.

Yea, they do. Happens all the time.

Quote from thesniper:

Any form of trading can be the 'gateway' drug that leads to ever more risky and ever more impulsive trading as you try to dig out of a bigger and bigger hole.
Even investing is not safe - 90% of investors fail to outperform the S&P 500. Even investing is gateway drug that leads to stock picking, and trying to outsmart the market which eventually leads to more active and risky trading. Real investing is buying an index fund at a reasonable valuation and never looking at the account until you retire - if that makes you uncomfortable then invest in bonds. Or you can invest in yourself by pursuing further education, more advanced job training, or starting a side business.

it was'nt one month that wiped out all my gains,it was one bad month could really take away alot of your profit. i started this post with an expectation of critisism I am sure my story will resonate with at least one guy and it makes everything worthwhile.
the guys that want to be haters, go ahead its your right but i guarantee, 99% of the haters will be looking for a new line of work within a year and then tell everyone they "just wanted to try something different". whatever works..

I'm not a 'hater' just saying that if you spent 6 months being a 'good trader' and then give it all back in one month then something is wrong with the way YOU trade. Ok, granted maybe it happened once because you were trading a stock and it got halted and you got smoked. That's one thing. But if you kept having this cycle play out of good gains and then explosion of your account then the fault really lies with you.

Again, not hating, just pointing out the obvious.

Thats 'hater' talk.

Good luck to you and I'm glad you are happier now

Lost 600K? I mean, how do you loose that much unless you just flat out do not know how to trade. Thats why you have to get your emotions under control before trading big money in this game. I understand your trying to help others, and that's appreciated. But, after losing 100k, 200k, didnt you think to stop and go to demoe and try to figure out what you were doing wrong? A little common sense is what one needs in this thing we call trading and that alone will take you a long ways in my opinion.

Casinos def let you play on margin, how about credit card advance for 20%

Quote from itsame:

Sorry to hear you blew up by not paying attention to risk management. I bet you do pay attention now in the construction biz.

btw... casinos definitely let you gamble on margin

I'm glad you are happier now. good luck

losing 600k happens quickly. over the course of 7 years.
i'm making more money now than i ever did as a trader. there were months i made 40 grand trading...its a suckers game and those that claim to "have a passion" are just setting themselves up for big losses. i was lucky,i was able to rebuild.
