My dads JPM Chase mutual Fund

Quote from Nine_Ender:

You are incredibly niave and uninformed. Nobody makes 20% a year in conservative investments. You obviously don't understand the nature of risk and reward, or how free markets work.

I would prefer if you had used the word "Almost" before Nobody.

Some people out there laugh @ 20% returns, most of course dont.

I realize this is an old post, but it's worth mentioning. Unlike most charting sites, Stockcharts incorporates dividends and fund distributions into its historical prices. Their comparison chart shows a much more accurate representation of the total return comparison.

Nitro, your Dad's funds are ok.

Pretty low beta, and at least positive alpha.

C shares are a little expensive to hold onto (211bps/yr on the conservative growth fund), but I take it he has a shorter time horizon?

If he wants out of them (if he's held them over a year), he can dump them with no cdsc.

Hope that helps.

:)

I'm beginning to think this forum is a joke there is so much bad information and advice. When I see someone saying "Nitro" is one of only 6 people worth following on here I have to resist throwing up.

At what point does common sense take over and more intelligent ideas move to the forefront here ?

e.g. Anybody saying you can make 20% a year on conservative investments is a nut end of story.
Who are the other 5? And what are there trading backgrounds?

This is not pleasant to have to say this, but you have just revealed yourself as a fool.

May I suggest you go back to school and get educated it might help.

I didn't know where to put this, so I decided it was probably best to put it here.

My dad owns two JPM funds, symbols OCGCX OBOCX, allocated 80:20 respectively:

http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=obocx

He just made 2.5% in one month.

I am motivated to tell you about this because in this environment, it is not terribly hard to make ~ 20% a year even in traditionally conservative investments, i.e., corporate bonds, OCGCX.

nitro's daughter's Father's Day prayer ....

"Dear God, this year please send clothes for all those poor ladies in daddy's computer. Amen."

I was hoping not to have to spell this out for you, thinking you would catch on. Try going back to Nitro's original post and reading it again. Pay attention to the date. Make note of the phrase: "...in this environment." There now, I've spelled it out for you. I hope that helps.
