My Covid Infection: Lessons learned

I apologize to you for not meeting your validation criteria for Covid. I fear I may have dishonored myself. Dishonored my family. Dishonored my country. Dishonored my species. Or not. Have to wonder though, how did humans survive before “Testing”, as in Antigen and nucleic amplification tests (NAATs) were available, which was not too long ago?

Because you stated, with high confidence, that you had COVID. How do you know what the hell you had without being tested for it? Dude, there are so many more diseases out there! Are you daft?!?

you think tests are giving false positives if someone never had COVID?

Actually, there early tests were apparently contaminated with Covid. These tests were developed in China, as I recall. I let you do the Googling if you are interested.

Get the vaccine for fuck's sake! Then you will not have to worry about it! And while you are at it, get the ones for RSV and Shingles, if you ever had Chicken Pox!

I understand situational probabilities and Covid symptoms. So while I may be daft indeed, this thread is not evidence of it.

I will not be getting the new Covid vaccine due in late September because I am confident enough I have natural immunity to the current strain. I will consider getting a even newer Covid vaccine a year from this September if one is offered, however.

That's what I thought as well. And when I got sick after getting the vaccines, test after test came up negative for COVID. There are other diseases out there that feel like the Flu. Maybe I had the Flu, maybe I had RSV, we'll never know for sure, because all anyone ever does is test for Covid.

Really? So the only thing people get sick from these days is COVID. There is no other disease out there in the world that feels like COVID. Good Grief.

ROFL! You sound like me waiting to buy a new computer as the CPUs kept getting better each year! Nah, I don't want to upgrade this year, next year it will be faster! So I will wait!

I don't think you should wait. You already felt like you were dying without the vaccine, and your natural immunity made you feel like shit. Your body worked very very hard to fight off the thing, and who knows...Were you in a weaker state, it might have killed you.

But hey it is your life. Go take your chances man.

ROFL! You sound like me waiting to buy a new computer as the CPUs kept getting better each year! Nash, I don't want to upgrade this year, next year it will be faster! So I will wait!

It seems that you have such entrenched beliefs on Covid and vaccinations that you are unwilling to consider other points of views. Your computer analogy is weak because why bother getting another computer if you have last year’s model? This is my thinking with the Covid vaccine. Since I’m likely immune to the current strain, why bother with a vaccination? If I am wrong and I’m the one in eight people who have a very bad experience with Covid, well It will be on me.

Any decision involving taking pharmaceuticals, including penicillin type drugs or vaccines should be weighed according to the risks to reward. Like it or not, all pharmaceuticals, including aspirin, as well as vaccines pose health risks of varying degrees. Ever read a warning label? Again, why take a risk for something you are confident you don’t need, especially since there is non-zero risk of a adverse reaction or possible long term harm that we only find out about years after the fact. Google “Pharmaceutical company class action lawsuits” if you are willing to risk feeling ill.

Polio. *mic drop*

Dudes, get the vaccines.

Lessons learned. I took no medication, fearing any medication might interfere with my body’s natural mechanisms for recovery. I accepted my sore throat pain. Staying well hydrated helped keep my phlegm thin, allowing easy clearance without too much throat pain. One concern I had was not knowing my electrolyte levels. Taking too much potassium is dangerous as is letting electrolytes become depleted by the Covid infection. For my next Covid infection, if there is one, I will have 14 panel urine test strips on hand at a cost of $20 per 100 via mail order. To maintain electrolyte balance, I will use Pedialyte instead of sodium tablets. Not interested in Gatorade because of the sugar. Bacteria loves sugar. Having a weakened immune system fighting bacteria is bad enough. Sure as hell don’t want help bacteria grow. Indeed, diabetics with Covid tend to have worse outcomes.

Best summary I've seen so far.
You 100% back yet?

They say rest is good for recovery.
Like in say maybe two hour breaks.
Maybe during a break could be a good opportunity to free yourself from the tyrany of preconceived notions and Stelter-vision, (ohhhh, that's an ugly mind picture) and to polish off some to do items that can be done while reclining with a pad and pencil to take notes for later reference.

Based on your copious and well done content on ET, surely you can shed more light on the topic than the ex-Ilhan Omar supporter Stark and my own review combined.

Mine: This presentation is worthy of a look by citizens concerned that elections are fair and accountable.
