mtv

And another thing...

I just wish MTV would set up some alternative network and just replay each day's program in its entirety (1981-86) with the great MTV guitar riff and the astronaut putting the MTV logo on the moon.

IMO, that network started to lose its original feel about the time Debbie Gibson, Tiffany, et al started hitting the airwaves around 1987. That crap just killed the network.

Yep. These days MTV really SUCKS!

I can still vividly remember watching MTV that first month it launched in August, 1981. I also remember Kim Carnes "Bette Davis Eyes" was a huge hit at the time and they gave that a fair amount of air play.
Oh yeah, cool video! Lots of Rod Stewart from what I remember as well!

That would be great! I remember watching old live Jethro Tull and Triumph videos as well on the station. Just once or twice, but it was great. You'll never see a video station play stuff like that these days.

Actually, if your cable company has VH1 Classic, you see all these old videos and 1980's era bands again. Only thing missing is the guitar riff and astronaut on the moon lead in.

I've never seen "classic". Do they only play the old stuff, or is it just mixed in with a bunch of new junk? I might have to order the next tier on the ole' satellite to check it out!
