Mr. Williams responds

Quote from Pekelo:

So somebody explain this to me, because I am slow:

If Williams was actually up at 2 million in the championship and he had this 2 accounts, how come he actually lost half of it by the end of the championship? He could have just switched it as he supposedly did with the rest and finish at 2 mill...

When it comes to trading futures, astronomically high returns are only possible with astronically high exposure--risk. Actually, a 50% drawdown is less than I would have expected, considering his performance in the contest.

There are some CTAs who have had twelve-month returns over 1000% AFTER surviving 90%+ drawdowns. Like all of us, Williams has had hot streaks and cold streaks, which are magnified by exposure.

If you want to survive trading futures, keep one's exposure--risk--to a comfortable level.

Quote from Thunderdog:

Yes, the book is still in print. Interestingly, Mr. Williams hasn't bothered to sue Mr. Gallacher for slander because of the "unsubstantiated claims." Most curious. Which part of the NFA's quoted findings are falsely presented by Gallacher? Was a fine not levied and paid? Were accounts actually segregated? Did the (unsegregated) managed client accounts not experience a significant and simultaneous drawdown during the period that Larry's account(s) soared? Do tell.

Insidious is a dramatic word in this context? Hmm. Let's see. We have unsegregated accounts managed by the same person. Client money diminishes, while the trader's account simultaneously flourishes. And all this during a time when there was notable time stamp laxity. Both broker and trader are fined. Hmm. What are we to think?

As you know, Gallacher had a lot more to say about Larry. What I presented here was just a choice morsel.

Surfer, you can squint all you like until you see exactly what you want to see. But it will not change what is there. Suffice it to say that each of us will draw his own conclusions. Signed up for any seminars yet?

"Independent research?" A fireside chat with Larry, perhaps?

Surfer: Mr. Williams, are you an amoral promoter just out to take people's money.
Williams: No, Surfer, I am not.
Surfer: Oh, OK.

Do you feel the same way about Bob Bright thunder ?

He walks the walk but still is a salesman.

Shrimp? I love shrimp!

Popcorn shrimp, butterfly shrimp, gumbo shrimp, fried shrimp, broiled shrimp, sauteed shrimp, stuffed shrimp....

FWIW,

I've had dinner with LW. I've attended his seminar.

I think he is 100% genuine and also a genuinely nice guy.

I just read about your experience so now I am expert on whether LW is legit or not.

thunderdog,

while i do agree with you on several issues, you are misled regarding LW. he posts his phone number on his site, why don't you call him and ask him what happened with gallacher instead of posting all this hearsay.

of everyone on the promotor circuit, i must say that LW truly walks the talk and is one heck of a trader.

i am still waiting for the supposed NFA sanctions information.....

best,

Why would I? Is there a similar cloud over Mr. Bright's head? Further, does he write empty books and promote expensive seminars?

Here you go:

He also has two CFTC reparations claims.

These are not hard to find.

I occasionally find mailings from Mr. Williams in my
mailbox promising me unlimited riches in only minutes
per day, if only I send him money. All the scammer
buzzwords are there. If he is not a fraud, why does
he send out such mailings? I put him in the same
league as Ken Roberts, Jake Bernstein, Wade Cook...

Also, affiliations with firms such as Robbins and Refco
are not recomendations in my book!

i see nothing in the complaint about his trading or the robbins cup contest. it's simply appears to be over zealous marketing that was the issue and the fine was reduced considerably upon appeal.
