MidKnight, you really need to visit a place like Thailand several times before even thinking of moving there. It's a very corrupt country with a military government where "farangs" (foreigners) and not welcomed into society by most. The "Land of Smiles" of the tourist brochures is a myth. It lasts for a two week holiday but anything more than that and the harsh reality would kick in. Why not just stay in New Zealand and take holidays to Thailand every 3 months?
Apart from anything else it would be very difficult to get a a long term visa for Thailand unless you've been offered a job there or you're planning to run a business employing Thai people.

It was in 1997-1999 that I started trading, you had to actually go to the Thailand Stock Exchange and trade from there with bits of paper with orders written on. The Internet was just taking off and the only real option for me was Cybertrader and the boom in stocks, I never really looked at anything else at the time.
Thanks for the reply notouch. I'm just sick of it here in NZ. Climate is no good here to me unless you live way up north. Prices up north are very very expensive. This has only gone wild in the past 7-8 years as foreign dollars flooded the real estate market. Not to mention the taxation here is extreme IMO. I'm looking for a change, free love, world peace, and trading.

There's plenty of "love" available in Thailand but not much of it is free.
World peace? Thailand has the third highest gun murder rate in the world after only South Africa and Columbia, and there's currently a civil war in the south.
Trading? Good luck getting a visa for that and finding reliable internet connection.

In most cases a NZ citizen is automatically granted a special category visa when they enter Australia on a valid NZ passport.What this means is Kiwis can remain in Australia on a special category visa for a number of years and enjoy the tax benefits of being a temporary resident which present them with the opportunity to leave non-Australian assets outside the Australian capital gains tax net.
