Move files iPhone 5 <> win 7 laptop?

You email it to yourself and open the email on the other device. At least that's how I put torrented books from the laptop to my iPad.

How do you get photos off the iPhone 5 without internet connection to the target pc?
I bought a software: diskaid
It will download everything off your phone including messages and for me message attachments.
I use it to clean up my phone when it gets full.
You can use wifi but I connect through a cable.

The laptop has wi-fi as std eqpt. Will this (TP-Link 300Mbps Mini Wireless-N USB Adapter) work if the laptop PC is miles away from internet signal - wifi or otherwise, and will not be connected to the internet?
