My father was a cop. He had to hold some guy's skull together while they waited for the EMTs.
I have a friend who loves his bike. We're all pushing 50, and he's got three kids. Been in two accidents (neither his fault, but that doesn't mean anything when you're a smear). Won't give up his bike. I keep telling him to grow the F up and think of his family.
I sold my last bike last year, but haven't ruled out another. I love riding. At the same time where I live the people on the road are worse than I've ever seen driving and add on all the distractions available and it is frightening in a car at times. My kids even notice how bad it is on the roads. I have been thinking of a dash cam to record this crap and nail people staring at their phone and swerving in and out of their lane. The touchscreen displays in cars are definitely not making anything better. I see people farting around on those also, including police on their dumb ass laptops in the cars.
My wife is an ortho doc. She calls them "murder cycles".
Motorcycles are great... until you crash em'.
(I got rear-ended on one years ago waiting to make a left turn. Wasn't hit hard and didn't get injured, but decided then and there to give up the bike.)
