MotiveWave Q&A

Hello MotiveWave Team,

I am testing the trial version of your software and considering to buy yearly subscribtion. I am planning to use it mostly for charting purposes. Especially, for low timeframe options like 30s, 20s and 1 min and higher.

Below is all what I need from your software, so which subscription should I buy in order to be able to use all these features, chart edition, or chart plus ? (i read the differences on the website but feel little bit complecated on this:
  • Max 2 Chart Templates )

and after buying could I use the software only with demo accounts ?
(beacause my broker: <alpari>, is not available on the brokers list at your website )

hope for your support.

Hi,

I'm not sure what you're trying to show me from all of your screenshots? If it's just the symbols you're looking at, our editions are not set up that way--they are set up by features. You can use any asset classes on any of our editions as long as the broker or data service provider you choose supports them.

It looks like you've got the Average True Range study on the charts. That is available in the Charts Edition.
If you can clarify what other features you're looking at, I can comment further.

You need to use one of our supported brokers or data service providers with the software. You can use demo or live accounts.

I meant, are the general tools such as gann cycles, volumes on candles, lots of layout opening options(can I open as much layouts as I want ?), different timeframes: 30seconds, 20seconds, 10seconds and moving averages available at chart edition ?

Everything included in the Charts Edition is shown here: https://www.motivewave.com/products/charts-edition.htm

Gann is a specialized set of tools--it is available as an Add On Module or it is included in the Ultimate Edition.

We have a base set of bar sizes that are pre-built. You can also create custom bar sizes in all of our editions, including seconds bars.

Can you clarify what you mean by 'open as much layouts as I want'? We call a layout the arrangement of charts within our Console or within Chart Groups or a Window, etc. We have pre-configured layouts you can choose from, or you can create your own layout by dragging elements around in the window. You can also pop out any chart or component (watchlist, quotesheet, bid/ask boxes, etc.) into a separate window and tile/arrange them on your screen.

Volume data is not tied to an edition, it is tied to the broker or data service provider you choose. If they provide volume data, you will see it in MotiveWave.

Everything is clear now, thank you for your reply.

Oh, one more question if you don't mind:)
Can I use MotiveWave with demo accounts only ? (after buying)
Yes. As long as you have demo accounts with our supported brokers or data service providers (and they do not expire), you can continue to use them after you purchase MotiveWave.

Hi !
- compared to other platforms, there was no possibility to change the daily and intraday charts for futures contracts so as to see only the current closest contract or a continuation based on either months, ending etc. The intraday charts were on a continuation basis and the daily charts were displaying the currenct contract messing with all the drawings made...
We now have continuous contracts for futures as of our version 6 beta (released Feb 2019).

Motivewave provides good product support. But off-late there has been quite delay in their response. It is ok if they are pre-occupied to address new feature requests. But there has been delay in fixing even basic bugs. I have ultimate edition. I had an issue of MotiveWave freezing if a stoplimit order is placed by a strategy, though the built-in stop limit order (in user interface) is working. So I have stopped using strategy mode (rather motivewave itself) of trading for last couple of months!! Hope things will be fine soon and make this great product work!
