Most Windows 7 PCs max out memory

Recently read a review comparo for XP, Vista, W7. Vista mostly came up on the short end, but results on various benches for XP and W7 were mixed... XP faster on some, W7 on others.... no clear cut winner... no compelling reason to switch from XP to W7.
 
Windows 7 is amazing. A quantum leap over XP and Vista. My notebook came with 4GB of RAM and 7 (64bit) can use every byte. It will also use usb flash drives and SDHC memory as additional cache.

Isn't that the Microsoft Business Model? Talk consumers into discarding something completely functional to replace it with something new (even if not "better")... so that Gates & Co., can make some more $$??

I'm sure Ballmer et al, are lamenting they made XP so good....
 
There's some law that says 'expenses rise to match income' which is why if most people double their salaries they don't have a lot of extra cash available.

There's also a computer law (can't remember its name) which says something like bloat rises to match processor speed/RAM.

Plus, let's not forget it's a MSFT product :)

Mostly true. Software makers know that the more grunt to a computer, the less they have to engineer the bloat out of their apps... therefore, software doesn't perform all that much better even on spiffier hardware.

There's no reason to innovate when you can "compel" your customers to switch by moving their perfectly functional software into end-of-life status.

That, too. Fortunately, XP is to be supported until April, 2014, or later... no need to reinvent the wheel until at least then.
 
Only thing there's more of than stock market pseudo experts is computer pseudo experts.
