Obama ranked 12th best president by historians in new C-SPAN poll

Just weeks after leaving the White House, President Barack Obama ranks as the 12th best U.S. president overall in a new poll of historians conducted by C-SPAN ahead of Presidents Day.

It's the first time Obama was eligible for the Presidential Historians Survey, which asked 91 historians to rank all 43 former presidents across 10 categories. Those include "Pursued Equal Justice for All," in which Obama ranked 3rd, and "Relations with Congress," in which he ranked 39th.

Abraham Lincoln retained his top spot for the third time in the poll, which debuted in 2000 and last took place in 2009. Other consistently high-ranking presidents include George Washington, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Theodore Roosevelt, all of whom made the top five overall in each survey.

Also notable: George W. Bush bumped up three spots to 33rd since the poll's 2009 edition, while Bill Clinton stayed steady at 15th.

The biggest loser since the 2009 survey is Andrew Jackson, the populist president whose portrait adorns the wall of President Donald Trump's Oval Office. Jackson dropped five spots, from 13th to 18th.

LOL, what percent of the presidential historians are democrats.

According to a study:

liberal presidential historians far outnumber conservative. By as much as 8-1.

So many that they have a democrat that was impeached at #15.

Being impeached(not removed from office) is supposed to invalidate 22 millions jobs created, record stock market, one of the best economies in US history,no major wars, budget surplus etc?

How could a presidential historian give a pass to a president being impeached for committing crimes in office and rate him in the top third of presidents.

His record as President, which is one of the best ever.

His record as President, which is one of the best ever.

One of the worst presidencies ever. So many scandals that there was even a new phrase coined as a result. Scandal fatigue.

By your measure, democrat historians would rate Tammany Hall as a success because New York was a prosperous city.

Yeah because a budget surplus ,22 million jobs, roaring stock market etc are all bad.Lets see if Trump matches Bill's budget or economic numbers.

Overlooking the crimes HE committed, and taking credit for what the PRIVATE ECONOMY produced.

And I can't help but notice that you included a budget surplus as an amazing achievement while at the same time the biggest deficits in history by obama are no big deal.
