Moron . Naked put options otm Friday. BUT stock price went down after hours...interactive brokers

Only if TSLA goes up next week. What if it shits the bed next week and drops another $50 which it easily could do?

aaaaaand, it shit the bed and dropped $50. Man...didn't even wait for opening.

anyone who wants 35000 dollars of stock put to them in a downtrend has no clue what they are doing!! lmfa. buying into a bear mkt. china holds the keys to this electric and satellite car maker who us underwater and has been for years!! just exit your trade and move the f on with whats left of your ego

play stupid games win stupid prizes selling puts short after a 900% rally in a stock. wow. fing retarded also i doubt you actually even did this because the margin involved and if your brokerage would even allow it naked

It's probably a decent buy at $50.
50 a share ok ill give u that and thats probably low. a 50% retrace n i would look to buy it if no china stuff come up. china only wants it there to learn and also use tesla as a baragin chip. they do not need it

I swore I'd never be one of those people asking advice on the web but here I am. I screwed up and need some insights.

I did a naked short on a stock. Closed at 419 on at friday. My otm put was 405.

at 415 pm bad news hit after hours and the price went down to 390. I'm exposed to a lot here. STUPID>

I'm with interactive brokers...shows i'm -$XX,XXX in my portfolio based on after hours price decline...

It's fri nite and i'm uncomfortable....stock is TSLA.

Will i be exercised for sure? Anything i do - can i call the brokerage and plead stupidity? any ideas or strategys

thank you
Hope you had access to EU Markets mate

You mean you would buy the stock and exercise the put..

Or if you were short the put,you would short stock, hopefully being 100 percent sure you were assigned on the short put..

Your wording was a little confusing:)

Yes. I meant to say short stock to offset the long put exercise. I usually do the opposite (sell stock to hedge short puts or buy stock to hedge short calls).

This is such a great thread for demonstrating what can happen when trading options. Especially for newer traders, but also those who have traded for awhile.

It's a classic "Everything is fine. It's closing time on expiration and my short ops are safely OTM." Nope!

My market moto is if the market can hurt you, it will hurt you. Don't let it!

@pointbob, it would be much appreciated if you could let us know what happened. Did you get margin call? Did you try selling calls? Just share whatever info you’re comfortable with please.
