Investigators working for special counsel Jack Smith want some answers about the box of government documents recovered in December from Mar-a-Lago and why they weren't there when the FBI previously investigated and hauled away the files that should have been left in Washington, DC.

"The Justice Department wants to know how a box containing a handful of classified records scattered among copies of presidential schedules turned up at Mar-a-Lago late last year, well after several rounds of searches of the property by federal agents and aides to former President Donald Trump, according to people familiar with the matter."

"Now they have the laptop and the box of documents and a thumb drive and we learned in recent weeks they sat down with the staffer to ask what exactly happened here? How did they come into possession of these classified documents," the CNN legal analyst continued. "They want to know why the box was not given to the justice department and how it conveniently eluded the department."

Donald Trump Jr. made a claim about his father, Donald Trump, that’s wild even by his lofty standards.

“He doesn’t need their money,” Trump Jr. said on Thursday at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) when asked about his father’s appeal to the grassroots vs. the corporate interests.

Other politicians, he said, are beholden to donors “if they want that money to continue.”

Trump Jr.’s father entered politics in 2015 by claiming his wealth meant he didn’t need anyone else’s money and vowing to self-fund his campaign.

But he’s since raised hundreds of millions of dollars, including half a billion since he lost the 2020 election, according to OpenSecrets.

While Trump Jr. may have been referring specifically to big-money donors and corporate interests, the ex-president has had plenty of those on his side as well as grassroots contributors.

In 2020, MarketWatch reported that Trump raised five times more than President Joe Biden from S&P 500 CEOs, and Forbes identified 133 billionaires or billionaire spouses who contributed to Trump in that election cycle.

Some of Trump’s donors’ money ends up in his own pockets, and some has been used to pay his attorneys.

Former President Donald Trump on Friday will reportedly unveil a new plan to use federal lands to create what he will describe as "freedom cities" that will be filled with flying cars.

According to Politico, Trump will announce a design contest for up to 10 different "freedom cities" that also will include "an investment in the development of vertical-takeoff-and-landing vehicles; the creation of 'hives of industry' sparked by cutting off imports from China; and a population surge sparked by 'baby bonuses' to encourage would-be-parents to get on with procreation."

The outlandish proposal comes as Trump has struggled to set out a positive vision for the future of the United States that does not revolve around false claims that the 2020 election was "rigged" against him.

In the video, Trump will compare his vision of futuristic cities to former President Dwight Eisenhauer's plan to create an interstate highway system,

"Today, our country has lost its boldness," Trump will say in a promotional video. "Under my leadership, we will get it back in a very big way. If you look at just three years ago, what we were doing was unthinkable, how good it was, how great it was for our country."

In fact, three years ago, most Americans were stuck inside their houses and watching the novel coronavirus infect and kill thousands of their fellow countrymen per day, despite the fact that Trump and his administration had labeled the virus "contained" just weeks earlier.

Donald Trump Jr. repeated a cruel line of attack on Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) during a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland on Friday.

The eldest son of former President Donald Trump again described Fetterman as a “vegetable,” echoing an ugly comment he made to far-right Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) during a February episode of his “Triggered” podcast.

Following a stroke last year, Fetterman developed an auditory processing disorder, which impacts the brain’s ability to filter and interpret sounds. He is currently in the hospital receiving treatment for clinical depression.

To the CPAC audience, Trump Jr. dismissed accusations that he was being ableist ― and then sank even further with another comment.


“I’d love for John Fetterman to have good gainful employment. Maybe he could be a bag guy at a grocery store,” he said. “Is it unreasonable for me to expect, as a citizen of the United States of America, to have a United States senator have basic cognitive function?”

Someone in the auditorium shouted, “Look at the president” — a reference to Joe Biden, who has similarly facedaccusations of cognitive decline.

“Well, you make a solid point, sir,” the Trump scion responded. “Why should a United States senator be held to a different standard than the president of the United States himself? So we have to fix all of that.”
