More problems with IB -- and Sierra Charts

I've used Sierra Charts, with IB, for 15 years.

Starting earlier this week, apparently IB changed the exchange code for some futures, which ironically is not the issue.

But at the same time, apparently IB changed their time stamp, so that in the morning, when I start both IB & Sierra Charts on my day, 6-screen trading computer, Sierra no longer is able to fill futures activity, regardless of exchange ID, from 6 pm, Eastern time, the prior evening.

IB has had more & more tech problems the past couple of years, & this just another motivation to move more business elsewhere.

Sierra keeps saying IB is the problem. If you pay for their Denali exchange, I think that fixes everything, but I'm not sure if the symbols match up well for trading, but at least the data should be good.

It sounds like Sierra would love for you to use their routing service for orders, but the brokers are limited, and none of them offer service in my area, so I am stuck with the IB and Sierra combination.
 
Ninjatrader works with the TWS 10.16.1k which is an old version. Motivewave works with the latest stable version of TWS 10.19.1g. It is much quicker to get data from IB servers than ninjatrader. ZN ZF ZT futures do not work on motivewave.

My experience with both IB and Sierra, is you spending the majority of your waking hours trying to learn their systems, attemting to unravel how the software operates, how to understand all their complicated jargon and never ending tweaks and updates.
Rather than just trading which was meant to be the whole idea of IB & SierraChart.

Upon entering the world of IB & SierraChart and you go down a deep and dark rabbit hole which leads into more rabbit holes.
 
If only SierraChart had two divisions.

One Sierra division for the simple stuff that many many many of us have come to know and love.

And the other Sierra division for the commercials, industrials, and affectionados that work the more involved complicated, (did I say involved?) esoteric edges that harness the fancy footwork that SierraChart can do.

Just give me version 89. Please!

For what many traders do, 95% of Sierra is not required.
Furthermore, the expensive mental horsepower that Sierra pours into the virtuoso accomplishments their staff provide, unfortunately represent nothing more to the simple price action trader than repeat interruptions and pop-quiz upkeep time required to just gtf down to business day in and day out. Is is a pain in the ass with the reward being you get back to where you started.

SierraChart Lite? Sign me up. Take my money. Now, Good Day To You, Sir!
