I haven't plowed thorugh all this thread, but some are making the point that Obama didn't appreciate the burden of Obamacare on business. Others have pointed out that he didn't appreciate how it would cause private inurance rates to go up.

Both observations miss the point. Obama and the democrats look at obamacare as a way station, not the ultimate goal. They want a fully socialized, single payer system. One way to get that is to impose a system that is so horrendous that people clamor for something "better." Like all failed liberal programs, they will never admit it was a mistake. they will just argue it proves why we need a fully socialized system.

And they will prevail with that argument. If there were enough morons, racists and parasites to reelect him, there will certainly be majorities to vote for "free" health care.

Moments later Obama announces to the nation that he is going to suspend the rest of the debate and make an announcement to the American people. Romney is ushered out of the room by the Secret Service.

The podium is transformed in seconds with the Shield of The President and teleprompter screens positioned on each side.

Obama proceeds to make a 60 minute pre-planned announcement that the attackers of the Libyan Consulate have been brought to justice and taken out by U.S. armed drones. He then precedes to outline in detail how his conflicting statements on Libya were designed to keep the terrorists off balance while they were being identified and located so they could be eliminated.

During the debate a shot rings out and the President clutches his shoulder and falls to the ground. The perp (put up to the deed by the Obama Campaign) has fired a blank round but a device under the president's jacket has imparted a shallow wound to his shoulder.

The perp is hauled off to an undisclosed location and after treatment Obama says he will continue the debate with his right arm now in a sling and bandages apparent under his jacket.

Their employers are in the business of making a profit for the shareholders. Not providing health care.. IF their employees are sufficiently necessary to the business and difficult to replace then it makes sense for the employers to spend extra on benefits to keep them. In case you hadn't heard. Waiters and pizza delivery guys are a dime a dozen. You know, like you.

No, but I didn't say they were. In any case pizza delivery guys and waiters are a dime a dozen. Why would any business owner with already slim margins put himself out of business insuring what are mostly transient employees? Soon to be 29 hours a week employees, thanks to Obamacare.

I'm noticing some of the guys, AK in this thread, seem to still be very angry even though their party won.

I think that business owners and CEOs are going to have to stop being vocal about opposing Obama and simply act. Instead of talking about lowering hours to below 29 hours per week they just need to do it so that they are not attacked so much.

Applebees and Papa John's have made a mistake by stating their policy in a way that threatens Obamacare. The left has won so there is no value to making threats, it is the law of the land. They should simply enact the policies they must implement for survival and not make political statements that turn into boycotts and more threatening behavior by the left. We all know that most service-sector businesses are going to employ people primarily part-time as that is a necessary survival action in the face of Obamacare. They should do it and not say it.
