Alright, I am going to just stop this nonsense. There’s too much knee jerk reaction to blame lazy cops for not enforcing the law. That’s my opinion. It’s a lame brain excuse and it’s a cop out. I know law enforcement at many levels work very hard to ensure people who should not have guns don’t and a lot of the time it’s very dangerous work. They are not to blame for things like this, it’s the republicans and the nra for weak laws and a reckless policy on guns.
I have known for quite some time you can be a total duck up and thug in the eyes of the courts and still own a gun legally.
I am not surprised this guy who had an instinct to put a gun in someone’s face had previous incidents with guns nor am I surprised he is legally allowed to own a gun. Depending on what he gets convicted of, he may still be able to legally own a gun.
I am grateful for the small carve out the Feds have made for domestic violence abusers to be prohibited from owning a gun even though that is still a misdemeanor. More work needs to be done on what misdemeanors should prohibit gun ownership.
All of the people saying I’m someone who wants to ban guns are just making that up and actually liars because there is no basis for it. There is no reason we should have 40,000 deaths from guns a year on top of the larger number of injured, paralyzed and traumatized from gun violence. But making people like me out as people that want to ban guns is what gets used to justify reckless gun policy and weak gun laws that lead to so many deaths.
I said this numerous times because I believe it is true 1. The nra is evil because it perpetuates death and harm 2. The only way to get meaningful gun reform laws is from the right. It’s a matter of many deaths they can stomach.
You can disagree with the above but the nra is all about gun sales not gun ownership and republicans are scared of the nra, just like trump said. It’s all a perpetuation of fear. People are scared of gun violence so they need to buy a gun and the more guns and violence the more people need guns. It’s an unhealthy cycle based on death. Totally an evil marketing strategy.
