Chicago on average has about 50 shootings in any given week. Most of it, black on black crime that is why nobody cries about racism. Adding radical Islamists along with Antifa and BLM will sure give Chicago, something to remember for years on down. Police should stand down and only come to take a police report, right after. The Mayor (D) has too many Republican buddies that will put pressure on him "not" to stand down although together they don't like MAGA supporters. A lot of that old GOP money in the background.
Plus, too much Republican wealth in the downtown area especially from the CME to the Magnificent Mile shopping area...many of which "helped" Mayor Johnson win his Mayoral seat.
My mom a Republican donor and former Chicago Trump Tower resident although she became a "never Trumper" explained to me why we have been seeing those small groups of police/counter-terrorism training practices in the downtown Chicago area the past summer/fall...
They are not going to allow the city to become chaos beyond the typical daily/weekend shootings. Yet, at the same time, it's sad that the shootings in Chicago have become "normal". Thus, I'll be a little shocked if Chicago reports more than 10 shootings within the city limits during the Democratic Convention. A few protests will be as expected. 
Therefore, although it's my opinion, I think Chicago was strategically chosen for the 2024 Democratic Convention because of its ability to "allow protests" and "maintain law and order" at the same time beyond what is expected to be "normal for Chicago"...strange as it may seem.

You got to love the open borders policy advocates. Now, I do not really care about the Europeans since, I do not live over there. That is a problem of their doing. 10 shootings? That's a bit optimistic, but I agree the shootings won't spike much. On the other hand, looting, property damage and something more than "mostly peaceful protests" are a sure bet IMO. MAG Mile is going to take a pounding. Englewood will probably be safer during the convention. Looting and Organized Retail Theft are already a consistent problem in the Chicago area on top of the fact that it seems like EVERYBODY is carrying a firearm.
My last two visits to the Chicago area...I saw a lot of people carrying a concealed weapon in stores, restaurants, parks, festivals...I thought I was in Texas.
No scar because Chicago is used to it and the city is too diverse. Citizens quickly forget about past protests/riots.
I found the below list of "civil unrests" in Chicago and I'm a little confused about what makes the list considering I was stuck in traffic on my last visit to Chicago and on my way to South Dakota when a bunch of teenagers blocked off the freeway...there were about 30 - 40 teenagers and a few cars were carjacked...it's not on the below list.
Possibly the freeway was consider "outside" the city limits.
In fact, nothing shows up on the below list after the George Floyd protests.
By the way, it only takes "a few bad characters" to change a Peaceful Protest into a riot. Just the same, it only takes "a few bad characters" in a police line to give riot control a bad name.

Yep, I see the similarity in features. Looks like the modern progressive, Hamas supporter nowadays are the babies of the KKK. Democrat Senator Robert Byrd was a KKK member. He is also, the idol of Hillary Clinton.
