No, I simply did not realize his views had partisan underpinnings. I genuinely believed he was presenting factual and balanced evidence. I was not cognizant of his political leanings. However, now that we all know he is an outspoken Libertarian, it comes as no surprise that he should seek out reasons to render the other two political views, Liberal and Conservative, as pathological. Stated differently, the source is bent. I just didn't know it.

I don't wish to retract anything. People can disagree and still think positively about each other, so long as one isn't harming the other. I just think you'd be a lot more effective (and happier as a person) if you saw the world from a little more balanced viewpoint. But your choice, of course.

To be candid, my political views were considerably more balanced before W muscled into power. Then things changed. Action - reaction. I'm not suggesting that I'm the better for it, but there it is. Not that I was ever a fan of the Right, but that side degenerated as a group by leaps and bounds since W came into office.

Interesting analogy. I am very much against communism and always have been. I do not consider myself Far Left, but I do consider myself left of center. Those who view me as being Far Left are too Far Right to have perspective. Aside from the ideological underpinnings of the Right, which I generally view as stunted, political thuggery became more pronounced and acceptable during the Bush years and continues to be practiced in earnest much more by the Right.

Well, it's all relative. After all you are a Canadian in Canada. Canada is, in most way, much further left than the USA. In Canada, you are "left of center". You can like it or not but there's not denying it's factual- You are pretty far left by American standards. Let's face it, what really seperates you from being a socialist? Probably not a whole lot, right??? Well, in the USA someone who is basically a socialist is "far left" of center. Not quite as much in Ontario, Quebec, or Manitoba...
