Trump needs to show some leadership here and encourage the Republican legislators to negotiate a deal reflective of their strong position.
My perception is the Democrats fear the financial repercussions on their social programs more than the Republican favorite spends that a shutdown would entail.
The media is trying to create political pressure in an attempt to pressure the Republicans into makng unnecessary concessions.
The Republicans have the stronger hand here. Are they going to act like the girlimen they are and fold their stronger hand to a little pressure, or will they suprise both Republican supporters as well as the Democrats by making a stand here?

It is scary to see how these guys would handle a major geopolitical crisis. The major competitors to the U.S. would know this and inevitably be able to negotiate a better deal than they would be otherwise be entitled to.

The dems want the daca deal to go down so that trump does not get a victory and so that they can campaign daca at the midterms. Hispanics and blacks are just people that they take down off the shelf to use at election time. It has ever been thus.
As I have said many times though, they better watch their arse because unless they bring in enough dems to be veto proof, trump will not have enough votes to get what he wants but he will be able to stop anything the dems want.
As always, if I were a daca kid looking to the dems to help me, I would be very, very worried.
