Unless a vaccine and/or cure is found, manufactured & distributed soon, millions worldwide of all ages will die.

Food shortages, looting & home invasions by unemployed desperate people will be widespread.

Fire & police out sick will make Mad Max look tame. Gun sales are breaking records for good reason.

Do not minimize the seriousness of this situation, or fail to prepare. This is very similar to Spanish flu that killed millions. I'm a UCLA grad with 2 degrees with 164 IQ, and 56 years of life experience.

I'm normally calm professional and easy going. But I recognize this as a fxcking mortal threat situation..... if not from virus, from violent panicked newly-released from prison guys or unemployed looters. This is genuinely serious.

The only hope is a vaccine or cure, fast. And even that's not guaranteed since it's a known RNA-mutating strain.

I'm generally right about many things, look at how correct my trading insights have been here, eg called mkt top January 24th, my only top call here in 14 years.

The main thing is stay housebound for at least 6 weeks and prepare. Ive got soup, snacks, 2glocks, a sig and 12ga.
And my 5-monitor trading rig.

Instead, he asked his health commissioner, Howard Zucker to assemble a task force and draft rules for rationing the ventilators they already had. ... Now the pandemic is actually here. Cuomo's grim reaper rules will be applied.

My point is many governments around the U.S. and the rest of the world are panicking now when they could have been more prepared. This is in hindsight, of course, and I hope we all learn from the experience.

you're asking state governments to incur a 1/4 billion expense that will sit "just in case". What if the pandemic virus made you shit blood instead? What good would the ventilators have been then?

They knew 10weeks ago what the virus was doing and what it needed.

Locking old people away 2 weeks earlier would of prevented total lockdown and not done this level of damage, they want this level of damage, guess someone will make big bucks from this mess as always.

It sounds like a lot but was only a one-time cost of half a percent of the state's annual budget. This is similar to thinking whether it would have been a good idea to buy that firetruck before the fire started.

This poll is to measure how we as society function and what kind of sacrifice we are willing to take. This is also for any country, not just for the US. I am not saying which side is good or bad, I am simply just curious of our posters' take.

My prediction is that eventually people all over the world will lean towards the let the weak/old fail and let's get back to normal choice. But I could be wrong...

Keep in mind that in choice #2 there still could be huge number of casualties due to social unrest, revolution, food war, etc.

By far the best option is missing from your poll. Keep people home until testing and protective supplies are greatly ramped up, 4 to 6 weeks, then test, test, and test some more. Especially, the asymptomatic need to be tested -- the exact opposite of what we are doing! If someone tests positive for the virus but no symptoms, they need to be quarantined through the incubation period then tested again for anti-bodies, if still asymptomatic.
