sugg retail $849.00......30% mark up (incredible mark up for electronics like this) = $594.30 whsle cost


Ok lets say Samsung lowered wholesale prices.....lets say the new retail price is $799.00 and they give 50% markup which is unheard of!!!

$799.00- 399.50=$399.50 wholesale.

Now this guy will sell for $333.00? from Italy and HE will pay the shipping through his great UPS contract at about $50.00.

I am not that great at business negotiations, but this does not seem like a good trade to me....speaking in trader language!!!

But with respect to trading... I am wondering if anyone has comments on purchase of a 17.4" Planar monitors or... purchase of any quality..... seventeen inchers..... as opposed to the apparently popular Samsung 19" we often see discussed on ET?!

I currently have Viewsonic 21" CRTs that I paid $1800-1900+ at one time. :eek: ! Don't feel like 'overpaying' again.

Don't do as much day trading, per se... mostly position trading.. but still need reasonable monitor screen space.

I just purchased a 17" LCD by NEC last week that is capable of both analog and digital input. It's beige with a bit of a silver inner frame and matches my two 19" CRT's nicely.

I am very happy with it, and would recommend running it a notch or two below the "native" (1260 x 1024 ) resolution so that it is a little easier on the eyes.

I got it for 10% off on www.dell.com at $418.00
The black one goes for $418.00 and I got the guys at Dell to lower the price another 4% to bring the white one down ( $436 )in line with the black unit.

It was shipped from Ohio and got to me in California 3 days after I ordered it. Apparently, Airborne will ship things out for Dell via 2-day air express even though you think you are getting their "ground" service.

Note: NEC just came out with the same unit that actually has a height adjustment capability of about 4". I have not seen it on any resellers website, but I do know for a fact that it goes by the designation 1760-NX - 1

No response.......

But I got a chance to talk to a real nice trader on the phone. We could not cut a deal with the italian stallion......as it was all BS.

These schemers just try to find the sucker that will wire them money......

P.S. My general experience with Ebay and electronics has left a bad impression on my use of Ebay. IMHO it is far better to do business with an established presence that reputation effects their existance, rather than some opportunist trying to get rich on ebay by working from their living room cutting deals.
