I honestly think the seeds were sowed for the movie when Jon Stewart did his infamous Cramer interview where he ripped him apart. Some Hollywood folks saw that interview and came up with the movie idea. BTW, the movie is not about Cramer and makes no mention of him, it's just my opinion that Clooney's character is loosely based on his persona. This movie if anything is more about the "Occupy Wall Street" movement. It will be interesting if that group is referenced in the film.

This looks beyond horrendous. Wow. I am a fan of just about any Wall street movie, but this is pretty friggin bad. . The trailer was hilarious.
Yeah I think it's going to bomb. First of all, most people know Clooney is to the left of Sanders so having him in the role of the market guru is going to be very negatively portrayed. Two, the actor playing the "occupy wall streeter" looks like he won some contest to appear in a movie. Again, I think a lot of these movies and TV shows are just badly miscast. The story lines are not all bad but the choice of actors is terrible. And I don't hate Clooney, he was outstanding in "Michael Clayton" and I highly recommend that film. This looks like a "movie of the week" on sunday night in comparison.
Yeah, it will bomb. Some guy takes a Cramer like guy hostage and then the Cramer like guy leads the march to get all the crooked hedge fund guys while he basically has a gun to his head? Seriously. It's beyond laughable.
Did you ever hear that story out in Chicago when those Occupy Wall St dopes camped out, I think near a bridge, and a bunch of floor guys got like 500 applications for jobs at Mcdonalds and dumped them on the Occupy Wall St idiots below? Priceless. Another reason to love Chicago.
That is a laughable plot -- a trader/wall st guy grows a moral conscience. Yea, right.

Wall Street 1987 is a great movie -- has alot of great dialogue and scenes, both trading and life wisdom.

Well, about 95% of the city of Chicago supported them. I was there when that event happened. The guys that dumped those applications got death threats. I remember a situation where I was walking by them and they all complained they couldn't get jobs, so a floor trader came out from the grain room and offered one of the more intelligent looking ones an interview at a real job to make about 50k a year. Handed him an application and the guy flat out refused. They are anarchists. None of them wanted to work. EPrado, Chicago is to the left of Venezuela. LOL. Beautiful city though.
Is it really that left? Honestly I was there when I was in my late 20's-30's. Never paid much attention to the political stuff. Was too busy drowning myself at Rivers....Cactus...Ceres....

Yeah and moving further to the left. When Obama leaves office he will be on the South Side. I imagine the pilgrimage to the chosen land will be fierce. Not to mention his Presidential Museum will be there.
