Quote from Batman28:
is the stress you get from trading worth it?
Trading should not be overly stressful. If it is, you are mostly likely A) doing something wrong, B) trading too much size, C) do not have a plan for every trade, or D) All of the above.
Yes and no. Asking a question like this shows a lot of immaturity. I say this because you need money to live and whatever level you chose to live at is subjective. If you've been successful at anything in your life, i.e. given a 110% effort and reaped either a monetary or emotional reward, the answer to this question should be easy.
is trading AS A PROFESSION the worse job there is?
I believe you are asking this because you do not understand the business aspect of trading and the types of inherent risks. This leads me to believe that you have not worked in a corporate environment and have not been subjected to effective business management either.
There are many parallels between the corporate world and the trading world that most people who have not paid their dues in the business world simply do not get. The biggest one: in order to be your own boss, you have to be a good boss. You have to enforce discipline, performance and conscientiousness upon yourself - you have to be your own leader. This requires motivation (usually a result of positive thinking and an inherent can do attitude) and a strong desire to succeed. Many I've worked with call it "hunger".
most people who trade don't want to merely work for themselves, or make extra money. they want lots of money. but is the energy and time and stress, and the years trading takes from ur life really really worth it?
I believe that you have no goals at the moment and you are wandering through your life without any real ambition. Trading (on the surface anyway) requires little formal training and hence you are attracted to because it seemed like a simple (read easy) career path. Here's the point: EVERYTHING worthwhile takes commitment and time, the sooner you commit to something, the sooner you will start making progress.
I am probably coming across as rude, but that's fine. There's a small chance that my comments irritate you enough such that you develop a motivation to prove me wrong.
