Monaco Yacht Show

We got invited to go out on one of those mega yachts on Thanksgiving weekend with about 6 other families for a few days on the Florida coast. And on the day we were supposed to drive down to Ft. Lauderdale and get on board, we were informed that the septic system broke and there was no way to get parts immediately to fix it. So the whole thing got cancelled. :(

The bigger the boat, the more stuff there is to go wrong.

Too bad it did not work out, hopefully they will re-invite another time. Bahia Mar yacht club in Ft.Lauderdale is the US mega yacht epicenter

I cannot help but remember the advice by Life's Little Instruction Book: Resist the temptation to buy a boat.

Or the old joke explaining that the two best days in a boat owner's life are the day they buy one, and the day they sell it.

I agree, a boat is a money pit.
and besides, it's not even that comfortable and glamorous to stay there that long...think of it as a cramped RV on water.

(if I had that kind of money to throw around, I'd rather toy around with collector Ferrari's and buy expensive/famous paintings.)
