Model citizens during Hurricane Irma

The weather channel was warning those who didn't evacuate that Police and emergency services would not be responding after wind speeds hit a certain speed.

That is just another way of saying prepare for the looters.

You know I could half way understand it if they were after food/water. But they weren't.

I believe that the message from all of this is that FEMA needs to start making sure that there are Air Jordans down the emergency shelters. Don't the white folks who run FEMA know that they are putting people's lives in danger by making them go out in hurricane conditions?

Every public service announcement should say "if you are looking for Air Jordans, follow the instructions of your local officials. If you cannot find any, shelter in place until FEMA brings you some."

That's a good point. I hate to be uncaring, but 45 MPH winds are not that big a deal for LE. You take a cop job in Florida, that is one of the risks. Occasionally you have to deal with dangerous weather. Mailing it in like this should not really be an option.

As, a parent... you frequently get what you deserve.
As a society I see the same thing.

You have to show respect, you have to set logical boundaries and you have to enforce consistently and fairly.

If you do you are likely to get a productive member of society... who respects the fact you cared enough to set boundaries to properly guide them as they grew up.

if not... maybe because you were worn out after you first few kids, or because you were a selfish parent or whateever ... you are going to need a lot of love and luck.

but without boundaries and respectful guidance ... your kids may turn into looters.

Democrats need to get real about handouts without the expectation of work from the able bodied. Charity is not caring if it is not part of a thoughtful system.

Exactly. 45mph isn't even a good thunderstorm, which we get dozens of here in the Midwest. 78-80 mph and up, okay, stay in.

Apparently the PC police have decided that commenting on or even noticing the looting is itself racism. We should just silently accept it like we do all the other black dysfunction.

...And the good news! A local third grade teacher turned the floods into a positive today, by proving to his pupils that fluid displacement actually works.

"Damn! Dat sh!t good!" said one of the pupils.

I wonder why in the Holland part of floodings, Blacks did not behave in the same way : they are cleaning, helping and putting all back into orders? Any person from Holland can explain why?????

Police in Florida have arrested several people who were caught on TV cameras looting sneakers and other goods from a sporting goods store and a pawn shop during Hurricane Irma.

In Miami, the police department also issued a warning about looting during Irma with using a photo with 10 suspects sitting in a cell, along with the caption “Thinking about looting? Ask these guys how that tuned out. #stayindoors.”
