This is the better part.....the lakers have ONLY won three in a row behind SHAQ and when he was injured they were 5-10 or somethign like that....In addition, I would take iverson over KG in a heart beat...he's paid 1/2 as much yet had his team in the Finals with a cast that started...SNOW, J. Jones, TY Hill and McKey....he got Mutombo late that year but man...the kid has some heart and for 1/2 the price of KG you get twice as much heart
 
Anyone still think Kobe is the MVP? He takes 30 shots, and only scores 31 points (and 8 points of that was from the line). Kobe isn't even the best player on his own team.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Tim Duncan had 27 points and Tony Parker scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half as the San Antonio Spurs beat Los Angeles 98-89 Sunday for a four-game regular-season sweep of the Lakers.


The Spurs last swept Los Angeles during the 1993-94 season.


San Antonio took control by making 10 of 15 shots in the third quarter. The Spurs led by as many as 19 points in the quarter as Los Angeles shot 6-for-31.


Tony Parker had eight points on 3-for-3 shooting in the period, then added eight free throws in the fourth.


Shaquille O'Neal, who had 32 points and 12 rebounds, had a basket and a three-point play that closed the Lakers to 71-61 with 10 minutes remaining. But Manu Ginobili countered eight points to help the Spurs maintain a double-digit advantage.


Kobe Bryant, who had 31 points of 11-for-30 shooting, made a 15-footer and then a breakaway dunk off a steal with 2:48 left, cutting the lead to 84-79.


Duncan followed with a shot on the run. Parker stole the ball from O'Neal on an inbounds and was fouled at the other end, making a pair of free throws that increased the lead to 88-79 with 1:40 to go.


O'Neal's short hook and a dunk trimmed the lead to five, but Parker made four more free throws and Ginobili intercepted a pass to Bryant and took it in for a layup for a 96-85 lead with 25.6 seconds left.


Ginobili finished with 14 points, 10 in the second half, and Stephen Jackson added 11. Duncan had 17 rebounds.


San Antonio went ahead in the first quarter with a 15-point run. O'Neal, who had 20 points and 10 rebounds in the first half, dunked over Danny Ferry to pull Los Angeles to 26-25 at 7:15 of the second quarter.


Los Angeles shot just 24 percent in the second quarter, with Bryant going 1-for-6, but San Antonio shot 30 percent.


Duncan finished the half with 16 points and nine rebounds, as the Spurs built a 39-36 lead.
 
Shaq is the all time best player and he was compared to all of them ( wilt, russel,bird all of them) kg is a close second...pick up the latest issue of ESPN magazine it has the reasons why....And it was all done by numbers not gut feelings.....I will bring it to the office and scan it for you girls to read and weep ( not you TM, you da man).....

I had dinner this week at Wilt Chamberlain's (restaurant..Boca Raton).

I hadn't been there in years (good place to take little kids, 'cause they have a big game room, and my kid has outgrown that).

Anyway, looking at all the memorabilia in the place.....it really brought back the memories of just how dominating the guy was. Certainly Shaq is bigger and stronger, but Wilt was the original. (and how in the world could the guy be the most intimidating player of his time and never foul out????)

I will never forget the night he scored 100 points against the Knicks. Being a Knick fan, I was still loving that the guy could accomplish the "impossible". (Imagine how many more points he would have scored in his career if he could have made free throws....)


Charisma, uniqueness, originality, should count for something. When Willis Reed hobbled out to play in the playoffs, when Kareem brought his skyhook to the NBA, when Dr. J "invented" the defiance of gravity, when MJ couldn't miss when it counted most.....Magic, Bird, these guys really shouldn't be rated against each other......

My vote goes to the referees. They would never win a championship without them in their pocket.

Oh boy.....I think Hapa may be right. You know the saying the "bigger they are the harder they fall"......Although I would still take the Lakers.......They will fall when they meet SAC.....peace
