Quote from AAAintheBeltway:
Last time I checked there were 50 states. The familiar red/blue map illustrated dramatically just how narrow democrat support is. The vast majority of the country is being tyrannized by a small group of states along the northeast, upper midwest and west coast. For the most part, these areas represent an older, faltering, unionized, industrial America that is in irreversible decline. Rather than face the music, they want to drag the rest of us down with them.
One wonders just how long this kind of unstable situation can last before the rest of the country wakes up.
This guy had to check to confirm to himself how many states there are. He should better familiarize himself with the state of unionization in the US and union rolls in manufacturing before he parrots the party line:
BLS in a January 2012 press release said: "In 2011, the union membership rate--the percent of wage and salary workers who were members of a union--was 11.8 percent.....In 2011, 7.6 million employees in the public sector belonged to a union, compared with 7.2 million union workers in the private sector...."
BLS statistics, 2011 http://www.bls.gov/cps/cpsaat42.htm:
Manufacturing jobs total: 13,599,000, % unionized: 11.2. 88.8% of manufacturing jobs are not unionized. Of the 13.599 million manufacturing jobs, 8.53 million are in durable goods and 924,000 of those workers are unionized. Out of 155,000,000
civilian labor jobs, less than 1 million can't quite be deemed a credible threat to the future of the country.
Once again, AAA is speaking out of his asshole.
I do not plan to be posting here by the end of the year....
