Mini Dow Trading Begins Today

OK so no DOW minis...

Is there something I could daytrade (SP mini or something) with like 4.5k $ and be able to meet initial margin? How much is the IB min for futures Only?

Im reading here on CBOT site about all theese mini contracts; does anyone know which one would be suitable for daytrading (move like QQQ or similar), what are the fees I need to pay and stuff like that? And what software could I use for analysys? (I was with QQL for now). There are theese NY gold contracts, soybean, DOW, and some others.... Im still short 300$ to meet the SP mini margin

Just exploring the options, still with stocks though :cool:

p.s. I just remembered : would the single stock futures be what Im looking for? And also are they available through IB, what are the margins, what are the quote fees....

Hrmmm.... been doing a little research about SSf's but nothing. Could someone explain in plain English when will they start trading, what will the margins be (im guessing 20% and at least 500 or 1000 stocks right? so basically 4-6k and more$) what software in the 40-60$/mo could be used and most important WHAT EXCHANGE WILL THY BE TRADED AT and WILL IT BE AVAILABLE AT IB?

They already trade on LIFFE in the U.K. but ChicagoOne will start sometime in early 2002. the final details are being worked out so there is no set date for startup.(even then it will take awhile for the liquidity to build into the contracts)

Most quote providers will provide data on ssf I suspect. But that also is to be finalized.
