Mike Flynn Offers to Testify in Exchange for Immunity

Counsel to Lt. General Mike Flynn (Retired)

General Flynn certainly has a story to tell, and he very much wants to tell it, should the circumstances permit.

Out of respect for the Committees, we will not comment right now on the details of discussions between counsel for General Flynn and the House and Senate Intelligence Committees, other than to confirm that those discussions have taken place. But it is important to acknowledge the circumstances in which those discussions are occurring.

General Flynn is a highly decorated 33-year veteran of the U.S. Army. He devoted most of his life to serving his country, spending many years away from his family fighting this nation's battles around the world. He was awarded four Bronze Stars for actions in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere in the war on terror. He received the Legion of Merit twice, and the Defense Superior Service Medal four times. He is a recipient of the Defense Department's Distinguished Service Award and the Intelligence Community Gold Seal Medallion for Distinguished Service, as well as numerous other decorations.

Notwithstanding his life of national service, the media are awash with unfounded allegations, outrageous claims of treason, and vicious innuendo directed against him. He is now the target of unsubstantiated public demands by Members of Congress and other political critics that he be criminally investigated. No reasonable person, who has the benefit of advice from counsel, would submit to questioning in such a highly politicized, witch hunt environment without assurances against unfair prosecution.

as max pointed out the other thread.. no way Trump would have fired a guy who was doing illegal things for him.

Again... Trump did business in New York. No way he got where he was being stupid. New York Politicians, Unions, Mafia....everyone looking to get a piece of your action. When he was moving up if you did not count you change you lost your fingers. Every time I went out in the city if I got distracted I ripped off. You had to be on your game and their game... every time. Every deal you made from buying a drink to cutting a deal with a Wall Street bank... if you looked the least bit dumb you got screwed.

You all don't understand how tough new york business is if you think Trump is stupid enough to ask Flynn to do illegal stuff and then fire him. Wall streets guys did not even get to be wall street guys in expensive suits unless they ripped off their grandmother 3 times and Trump made billions working with those guys.

I am not even a fan of him right now after the Ryan care deal... but the man is not dumb. you would have to be dumb to think a guy who made it big in new york was dumb.

Yet The FBI has been investigating for 8 months and Flynn is offering to talk for immunity. If he's stupid enough to ask The head of The FBI to lie to country he's stupid enough to ask a General to do unethical things as well.He also said he would tell Generals to commit war crimes and encouraged his supporters to commit assaults at his rallies. He's not as smart as you are hoping him to be imo.

I can only imagine the fear at The White House right now.Less than 4 months in office and they have a Nixon level scandal on their hands.Sad :(

And yet after 8 months with hostile Obama admin people within the FBI consistently leaking reports to the press, all you have is nothing burgers, they have such a juicy story that nothing of substance has come out.

Everyone with a half a brain knows not to fuck someone over if they have dirt on you, highly doubt Trump is that dumb.

What a difference six months make! When immunity didn't denote guilt in the slightest.

But what can you expect when you're dealing with hypocrites.

Trump asked Comey to lie for him

Reince Priebus Asked the FBI to Assure Reporters There Was Nothing to the Russia Story. They Refused.

Kevin DrumFeb. 24, 2017 1:29 AM

Last week the New York Times reported that members of Donald Trump's campaign staff "had repeated contacts with senior Russian intelligence officials in the year before the election. The White House vigorously denies this, and Chief of Staff Reince Priebus went on TV to knock down the story. That's fine. But it turns out Priebus did more than that. According to CNN, Priebus asked the FBI to tell reporters that there was nothing to the story:

The discussions between the White House and the bureau began with FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus on the sidelines of a separate White House meeting the day after the stories were published, according to a U.S. law enforcement official.

White House official said that Priebus later reached out again to McCabe and to FBI Director James Comey asking for the FBI to at least talk to reporters on background to dispute the stories. A law enforcement official says McCabe didn't discuss aspects of the case but wouldn't say exactly what McCabe told Priebus.

Comey rejected the request for the FBI to comment on the stories, according to sources, because the alleged communications between Trump associates and Russians known to US intelligence are the subject of an ongoing investigation.

I wonder if anyone in the Trump White House even understands how inappropriate this is? They might not. Partly it's because they're so inexperienced, and partly it's because they've all been marinating in the Trump worldview that you're a chump if you let delicate moral sensibilities get in the way of hitting back against your enemies. They might well believe that asking the FBI to talk to reporters is no different than asking the press secretary to talk to reporters.

If this is true, it's no excuse. I'm just curious. If Priebus knew this was wrong, it's hard to believe that he would have pressed the bureau multiple times, even knowing that it was almost certain to leak eventually.

In other words, at best they're muttonheads. At worst they're casually corrupt. Take your pick.

Ah, Motherjones. Well then.
