They are not people that law enforcement are trying to catch...
They are people already convicted and have been jailed. Yet, in some places (some prisoners have asked for earlier release instead of their schedule release) while others have been transfer to other prison systems after they requested to be release due to Coronavirus.
It's not just the prisoners...its also the
GUARDS. Many have been sick or furlough...not able to maintain their prison guard duties. Simply, there's a staff problem...similar to nursing home care personnel staffing issues during the Pandemic...it resulted in high infection / death in nursing homes.
Nursing homes discover very quickly what happens when staff is dramatically reduce or non-existence.
Seriously, image a prison with no guards !!! Everyone of them (prisoners) will just get up unlock and walk away.
Later stealing all the park cars not being driven due to everyone home bound.
P.S. Auto theft in Canada and U.S. has statistically increased during a time when it normally decreases. Maybe its all of those early release prisoners that were schedule to get out within the next year.

If your car gets stolen...probably someone out of prison on early release that was schedule to be released from prison within the next year (sarcasm).
P.S.S. Some industries performing very well because of this Pandemic...they're doing so well that they're hiring lots of people and giving them extra pay. Thus, not all is lost.
