does it matter how many? fact is they happen sometimes. one can be enough every few month - gapping down - going down - far far away from where you entered - if you entered at all...
 
A gap down is the best since it creates a nice dip to BUY. Lets see, what are the odds that todays gap down will reverse to a rally. Based on the last 6 months 99%. Some fed comments would be icing on the cake.

I am amazed at how many days the market wakes up to a + gap from overnight . I can remember a handful of down opens but they were just great dips to buy.

I just read this thread from page 1 till 95. An interesting read.

Does it still work?

I tried it with a demo account. I went long yesterday on YM.

5x YM @ 11609 just before the close.
It just began to go up from 11594 to 11608.

Very curious what it will be just before the open.

I wonder if we cannot find a way to filter out the gap down days?

this system works better on NQ imo long term
 
Do you set a limit order so you make sure profits are locked in during the night?

Closing just before the open is not possible for me as this is in the middle of my working day (Central european time). So I need to place a limit order. I'm just not sure how many points I should be looking for.

Any thoughts on this?
