Microsoft’s cloud services are down

The computer and the human can both try and land in the wind.

But the human pilot should have known to not bother attempting to land with such a strong crosswind component. The risk of something going wrong (like a sudden drop in wind speed which would have caused the plane to crash into the ground), is too great.

So both of them lose by even trying it in the first place.
Fly around until the wind stops?
Fly off to another airport?

Yeah. They're trying to land in England, yes? On your initial descent from 40,000 feet, if landing at runway 24, let's say, but winds at the airport are reporting as 310 at 60kn, gusting to 80kn, you tell the frickin controller you'd like to land in France or Spain. You don't put people at risk trying stupid stuff like that.
