Microsoft Surface

Is anybody going to buy this?

It has a rubberized touch keyboard that acts as a cover, but there is also a tactile keyboard available. Can the tactile keyboard also act as a cover or does it have to be detached?

The techies seem to think it is a pretty good tablet, but I don't see them calling it an ipad killer.

Tried to buy but its almost sold out online. Will wait until they have the accessories in stock.

Not big on that blue keyboard. lol

Friggin Softie can't even get supply right. I'm reading they barely sent out more that 1 or 2 units per retail store. That is just mindbogglingly idiotic.

Anyone get a Surface Pro yet?

Still none available. Maybe wait for second iteration. Seem to be some issues with the first.

I passed on the 1st generation MS SurfacePro due to battery life and a few negative reviews.

Decided not to succumb to first adopter syndrom on a product which was destined to be improved, either by MS or competitors.
Also was not too impressed with the need to re-purchase my office suite for the MS product. Gave me a sour taste in mouth that it wouldn't support legacy programs, tipped the scales to abstain from procuring at the present time.

Almost grabbed the Lenovo yoga, unfortunately I didn't like the idea of the keyboard being exposed when in Tablet mode.

I am confident that the next generation Win8pro Intel based tablet from either MS or one of its competitors [Lenovo/Asus/Samsung] will produce a refined product.

I am just going to wait for the 2nd generation products to be released, at which time I believe we will have many viable options.

Main purpose for intel based Windows Tablet is to be able to run IB and Buttontrader. Stylus will be a key factor in using buttontrader. Other than that don't really need another Tablet.

I think it will make a great mobile app to run full IB TWS.

Be careful.

Many reviews say it is underpowered, sluggish and slow.

Trading software needs a more powerful CPU than the Surface has.

i5 is plenty for TWS. Although I may wait for the next iteration of Surface Pro.

Looks like the Surface will get the new Haswell chip, which will double battery life.

Should be ideal.

trading on a 10" surface? I have large fingers and the risk of fat fingers is too big for me.

You can used the active digitizer pen (wacom based) which is quite precise.
