The election of Abraham Lincoln, as you said, was indeed one of the many causes of the Civil War.
Slave states such as Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, and Georgia, among several others, even refused to put Lincoln on the ballot.
Why?
Because they believed that Lincoln's election would undo several of the compromises that existed between free and slave states in the decades leading up to the war.
In short, they saw Lincoln as being against slavery and, therefore, as President, he would be supportive of Northern industrial interests and be against the South, whose economy was based on the plantation, itself established on slavery.
If Lincoln had been supportive of slavery, his election would not have led South Carolina and others to leave the union.

Blacks want equal treatment but only in terms of benefits and not responsibilities. when they cant compete on even grounds, they scream racism. Up until now the system held up, what happens when 3rd generation welfare nation is cut off? pretty soon even if u tax the rest of america at 70% it wont be enough, if this keeps up many of them will say FU and move out.

you are right, we should follow the development path of the most successfull African nations, it would serve us better..
Slavery has many facets, none of which require a certain skin pigmentation.
It would appear that a majority of this nation is on the government plantation, chained to handouts, bailouts and special rights.
The era of the self-made individual is coming to a close, the age of the collective is emerging before our eyes.
If you want to keep to form, try slamming down the phone or slamming the door like a teenage girl...those actions of teenage girls extreme emotionalism and helpless are about as rational as your response...
So good to know that white republicans never hire illegals in an attempt to exploit the economic system...
