Moore's playing the long game, keeping his eye on the real prize, reducing inequality. He's always been doing this, battling for the blue-collar worker. The middle class feeling "left behind" by international trade, flat real wages, no retirement savings, even as the wealthy have become richer than ever, all that says "inequality", the mal-distribution of wealth and ownership. At least, it's "mal" in their view. Blaming "blacks" and other minorities for getting "all that" free stuff, which we see spike every recession, is simply an out, a way to reconcile their present circumstances and perceived causes with their capitalist socialization.

Tell me again how I do better when somebody else makes less money? I missed the connection somewhere. If Bill Gates has only 30 billion dollars instead of 60, how much better will my life be?

At least Moore is intellectually honest enough to admit that all those white people who voted for Obama didn't suddenly become a bunch of racists. They did however grow weary of being called racists simply for expressing their dissatisfaction with a floundering economy while those responsible for the crash were allowed to skate under 8 straight years of democratic administration
